Sutherland Shire Brass is currently undergoing a major re-launch.
With the rich history and accomplishments of Sutherland Shire Brass, it was seen as fitting that it not wither and die, but be renewed, invigorated and re-launched. As such, if you play a brass instrument or percussion and are interested in joining a band that is no longer old fashioned or boring, then you are on the way to making a great choice.
Join us! Rehearsals are OPEN, INCLUSIVE, FRIENDLY, FUN, CHALLENGING. If you can walk, sit and breathe and have a desire to play with like minded, enthusiasic players, want to sharpen your skills, maybe learn new skills or just enjoy a group of people making magic happen, then come along. Rehearsals are held at our Hall at 77 Eton Street, Sutherland (near Park St).
Senior Band is the premiere ensemble of Sutherland Shire Brass and comprises all players over 19 years and Youth Band members of sufficient standard. A leading brass band in New South Wales, the Senior Band performs in many marches, playouts and concerts and regularly competes in State and National Championships. The Senior Band has enjoyed success in State Band competitions and individual competitions in the past.We look forward to more achievements in the future.
The Senior Band rehearses every Monday evening from 7.55pm to 10.00pm under the direction of Andy Yule and guest conductors.
We're looking for experienced musicians who are:
Current vacancies: Most sections, including Tuba (Basses) and Trombone. Other positions are also available.
The Youth Band is for players under 19 years of age who may play in a school band or other organisation but are looking to further develop their competencies as young musicians. After all many professional musicians began their careers in a community band. Members of the Youth Band play with Senior band members at playouts, concerts and marches. In the past the Youth Band has competed at A Grade Brass Band in State and National Championships.
We also conduct a number of workshops for young musicians. In the past we have engaged the services notable musicians such as David Manual (drumming and percussion workshops), Ron Prussing (lower brass workshop), Paul Goodchild (cornet / trumpet workshop) and Dan Williams (cornet / trumpet workshop).

The Youth Band will rehearses every XXXXX evening from 6.55pm to 8.30pm during school terms, under the direction of Joel Nicolai.
Instruments can be hired for $150 per year once you are a financial member of Sutherland Shire Brass.
